About the Author

Currently a postdoctoral researcher at UMR 8096 ArchAm (CNRS), Julien Hiquet has been working in the lowlands of northern Guatemala since 2013. He holds a PhD in archaeology from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2020) and has taken part in numerous excavation and analysis campaigns at the site of Naachtun. Since 2022, he has directed the Lechugal Norte-El Tigre Archaeological Project, which aims to trace the political, economic, and demographic trajectories of several hinterland sites near Naachtun, particularly during the transition from the Late Preclassic to the Early Classic periods.
